I Heart Flip Flops!
Its 6am and I’m rushing around our apartment looking for anything that remotely resembles a pair of shoes. My drawstring bag on one shoulder, a blue Bic pen in my mouth, and a Gatorade in my hand, where the heck are my flip-flops!
Thank goodness for my responsible and organized roommate Jessica! Her flips-flops were placed right by the front door, perfect access, and even better access for my feet. I quickly slide my feet into her Nike Flip Flops and head to class. At this point in my life I couldn’t fathom life without flip-flops.
So where did the flip-flop originally come from. Some say Australia; others say the flip-flop was originated in Japan. Although it is uncertain who officially invented the flip-flop whoever the genius was deserves much credit and here’s why.
They’re comfy! All the girls that sit in class with high heels on really trips me out. Imagine a ninety-minute class with high heels squeezing your feet… no thank you! Spare me tired and sore feet! A great pair of flip-flops definitely surpasses any shoe on the comfort level.
Call it what you want but flip-flops are beyond functional, they’re fashionable! You can wear them with jeans, sweats, shorts, and even a cute skirt or summer dress. Not to mention flip-flops can be rather stylish for both males and females.
Like most college students my preference would not be spending my hard earned college stipend on an expensive pair of shoes, so I opt for the flip-flop. They range in price and are quite inexpensive and the chances of flip-flops getting ruined…slim to none! They’re durable.
Durability is a very important feature of the flip-flop. If they get wet, it’s not a problem. For some reason it seems that they have super drying powers over any other shoe. And you can bet your college mates will be wearing there flops rain or shine, snow or sleet! It’s the all weather footgear.
Now we cant forget their portability! Flip Flops are even well suited for the backpack, draw string bags, and even over sized purses, they fit perfectly, when on the go storage is necessary.
With all this in mind losing my flip-flops is like losing my sanity for the day. As the day nears its end I’m off to meet Jessica for dinner. As I walk into the café there is Jessica standing in the dinner line and my eyes are instantly drawn to her feet. She’s wearing my Havaianas!
