As college students we endure costly expenditures on a daily, monthly and yearly basis. The importunate financial demands of college can make the experience a compromising one at times.
I’m sure the mental picture of feasting over a gourmet meal is one that can be readily appreciated by the majority. Unfortunately for most college students this vision can only be savored via wishful thinking; well at least for the most part. With rent due, the first of the month looming, and knowing that you went over your cellphone minutes last month, it’s a guarantee that the budget assigned to groceries/ food will take a hit. Under the given circumstances one has to assume sacrifices and adapt certain lifestyle changes. Altering food intake becomes an inevitable, and may even be challenging at times (but hey it’s all part of the bliss of college life right?).
Adhering to the stereotypical presumption of Ramen noodles being amongst the top delicacy for college students seemingly is something viewed as an embarrassment for most to freely admit. From one college student to another what can I say; it’s filling and CHEAP!! I mean let’s keep it real people; we’ve all had that encounter that one weekend grocery shopping with less than ten maybe twenty dollars in our account and not expecting the next pay-check or allowance to come in for another week or so.
Ramen noodles for dinner is not the most anticipated feasts but it does come in handy facing the oh so famous rainy days- which tends to occur on the regular when being away from home. It’s funny how that plays out, ain’t it? When push comes to shove we’ve got to rely on the oodles and noodles; in times of need it can be very convenient and can be quickly prepared which is a plus after a long day. Besides, it comes in an array of flavors and is assuring when it comes to keeping that body in shape (especially around spring break). Well at least that is the level of optimism we have to rely on as persuasion to withstand such compromising times. One never realizes the ‘Great Value’ of Ramen noodles until being placed under such conditions. I’m certain that at one point prior to the aforementioned experience we’ve all snacked on noodles as a quick appetizer before the main course. Who would have thought it would one day be the main course eagerly awaited on what seems like the never-ending journey to the apartment. So, to my fellow Ramen consumers… Bon Appetite!
