A wise man once said; modern music is as dangerous as cocaine.  With that said, the guys over at Apple must have been developing a cartel when they created the iPod.  No single device has been able to penetrate the music culture since the walkman.  To ignore the connection between college and music would be like separating your little sister from her blanky…dangerous for years to come.  So these are the rules you need to know about everything ipod.

1. GO GET ONE….IMMEDIATELY!!!!

Ipod    Are you kidding me?  You are the last person on this planet to not have one. We should all point and laugh at you.  We’ll excuse you this time because at least you’ve come to the right place.  There are plenty of models available, so if you have deep pockets and want to go crazy or if you have to work a few extra hours at the campus café, they have you covered.

2. GET MUSIC FOR DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS

Parents will always tell you, there’s a time and place for everything! And music is no different.  You don’t want to be strolling around campus listening to the same song that gets you thru the last mile on a ten mile run.  That Eye of Tiger, Rocky theme isn’t for daily use.  So plan that accordingly; and while we’re at it, Dance like no one’s looking only works when NO ONE IS LOOKING!!!!  A little Coldplay, Kanye West, John Mayer, and Alicia Keys will get you on a nice vibe for almost any occasion.

3. CUSTOMIZE YOUR IPOD

Ipod

It’s obvious that the white headphones are used for iPods, but they are coming out with different colors to separate yourself from the pack.  Never mind books, someone in class will share notes before the big test.  But who’s really going to let you borrow a super fly iPod?  If you’ve got one of the larger models try throwing some stickers of your favorite team, band or artist on the player.  You can start a good conversation or rivalry when it comes to sport teams, especially since football is almost underway.

4. LEARN IPOD ETITQUETTE
When you have your headphone in, no matter how lost you get in your songs; remember the world is still spinning around you.  And even though you may not feel like talking to that random person that’s trying to tell you something, it could be an emergency.  A girl ran into a parked car because she was trying to avoid a guy, who was trying to tell her to tie her shoe lace.  He should have laughed but he probably helped her up.  It’s also irresponsible to sing what you’re listening to because you’re not on American Idol and we don’t care.

5. SHARE
Become a social magnet with all you know about your iPod and the music on it.  Everyone loves music and everyone has a favorite song, maybe in conversation you’ll be able to find a deep connection with someone through the music you enjoy.  At the very least you should be able to stay up in the back of the class, while the teacher thinks you’re taking notes.
